Most Recorded Christmas Songs

If you’re thinking that every single artist has recorded “Silent Night” at some point in their career, you’re probably right. That is the #1 of the most recorded Christmas songs in the world.

Christmas songs are pretty classic and we certainly hear the same ones each year, but why so often? It seems that artists like to record the most popular ones, making them even more and more popular.

Artists try to provide a unique style or special spin to their own arrangements, but essentially, we’re hearing the same songs again and again.

While we may hear the same songs so often, we recognize that some artists release Christmas originals. For example, Sia just released a whole album of original Christmas songs. However, it is rare for originals to become part of Christmas tradition.

One outlier is Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which reached number 30 of the most recorded Christmas songs.  Read more about this song’s rise on the charts here.
