Tanis has accomplished many things in her life. She has ran the New York City Marathon to raise money for Project Aware and Ocean Conservancy, became a ski instructor at the age of sixteen, and posed as a cover model for Elle Singapore. Now, the 23-year-old Renaissance woman wants to take on another challenge: music.
“I have loved and lived life with music for as long as I can remember,” she shares. “It may have been my father singing me Nat King Cole’s ‘Non Dimenticar’ for two hours straight the day I was born, or maybe the fact that we had plenty of instruments at home that no one knew how to play, so I began to learn them. All I can say is that music has brought me so much joy, energy and smiles when I needed it most. Making music is simply my way of trying and hoping to do the same for someone else.”
Her latest video, “Okay,” explores those times when we feel run down. By the end of the song and video, however, she hopes to inspire you to keep persevering.
“‘Okay’ is a song reflecting on the moments we all have in our lives where we feel beaten down by everyone and everything that surrounds us,” she says. “But yet, if we can find a way to continue to believe in our dreams, our aspirations and tell ourselves we will be okay no matter what, we can find a way to overcome any obstacles, no matter how insurmountable they may seem.”
And if you like the track, don’t worry: Tanis is set to release more music over the coming months and hopes to turn the project into an album. In the meantime, you can watch the visual for “Okay,” exclusively on PopCrush, up top.
