David Archuleta is now on tour promoting his new EP Orion. He took some time out of his busy schedule to speak with Preston Lee about some serious and not so serious issues. In the following podcast David opens up about the internal battle of being himself versus what other record label executives thought he should be. He gives his feelings on serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, feelings of losing himself and depression as well as his journey to spiritual awakening and standing up for himself and carving his own career path.
DAVID ARCHULETA KICKS OFF 15-CITY THEATER TOUR
(Nashville, Tenn.) June 1, 2017 — On May 19, David Archuleta, released Orion, the first of three EP projects the platinum-selling pop star co-wrote, and will release before the end of the year. In support of this new music, he’ll kick off a 15-city headlining tour at State Theatre in Red Bluff, California.
About his new music, David says, “After American Idol, I never took the time to slow down and think about who I was,” the singer says. “People wanted me to work in an adult world without growing up. … When I went on my mission, it was the first time that I took the time to say, ‘Who am I? What do I want?’
The result is, Orion; the first album David has co-written and recorded as an adult, which has already received over 1.6 million streams on Spotify, sold more than 10,000 singles and over 1,000 EPs in its first few days.
“This is a new beginning,” he explains excitedly. “I’ve never felt so intrinsically fulfilled and electrified by my own music. “It’s not just taking another chance with music, it’s taking another chance on myself.”
